The Windy City (Part 2)

Image
As you probably already know, there are many things to see and do in Chicago, but what we really want to hear about is the food! Am I right or am I right?! Although we were only in Chicago for a couple nights and did not get to eat a lot of places, the places we did try were phenomenal. I will tell you about them plus a few other hot spots that people are talking about and worth checking out when in town. Outside Giordano's on Rush and E. Superior Now, everyone knows you can go just about anywhere and get a pizza. And as a matter of fact, the pizza will most likely taste great. But until you try an original stuffed deep-dish pizza in Chicago, you’ve never really had pizza. I will start off with the place I cannot wait to go back to the next time I happen to be anywhere near Chicago. That place is called Giordano's! It is quite frankly the best pizza I have ever had. It takes about an hour to cook this monster of a pizza that you have to pre-order it prior to being abl...

The Windy City (Part 1)

Image
We made it back from an extended weekend exploring Chicago! And boy was it cold! They weren't lying when they called it windy. We were bundled up three layers deep and still were shivering. But it was nice being able to dress warmly and investigate a new city that actually sees a winter season. In this first part, I will review things we did during our three days there and getting around the city. The second part will be kind of a food review of places we ate at, but I will also include other hot spots around town that are must tries when in Chi-town. I will also include in the second part hotels and places to stay around town. View of Chicago from the 94th floor at Hancock Tower Observatory. We flew United in from Houston Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and arrived in Chicago O'Hare (ORD) around midday Saturday. On our decent to the runway we flew directly over the city for an amazing view from above. If you are into stunning skylines, this is one of the best. Once we lande...

Weekend in Chicago

Image
So this weekend my wife and I will be heading to Chicago for the holiday weekend. And it looks like snow! Weather forecasts have a chance of snow, but it will be quite cold in the Windy City. Hopefully us southern folk make it out alright. The flight we are on is nonstop on United Houston to Chicago. And there is DirectTv on it! Sweeeeet! Sometime early next week I'll post on the happenings of the trip and a little review of things we saw, did and ate. Hope you guys have a good (hopefully extended) weekend!

Where Will Your Miles Take You?

Image
Traveling today can take you just about anywhere on the planet you would want to go that you could imagine. Getting there the regular way ($$cold hard cash money$$) might leave you with nothing on return. There are several ways to trek the planet (see what I did there!) for way cheaper. Cha-Ching! Of course it will take some time and effort to get to that point, but it is well worth it. I recently used points to book a flight from Houston Intercontinental Airport to Sydney, Australia one way. The cost for me was 80,000 points and $65 taxes for two people. Pretty good stuff if you ask me considering an average one way flight there would be around $1100! I will show you how you can fly using miles and as little cash as possible to destinations you thought you could never afford to go to. In the meantime, there are a few other websites/blogs that I read almost daily about travel deals and all the ends and outs of traveling using miles and points. Some of them are: Noob Traveler Frugal ...

American Airlines unveils new logo and paint job

Image
American Airlines new livery shown on a Boeing 777-300ER. Image from American. American Airlines announced this morning of a brand new look for their planes. The new look is sleek and modern and in my opinion, looks very clean and precise. I really like what they chose for their first fleet wide update since 1968. They will also be receiving a new plane with its first flight due Jan 31 of this year. The new plane will be a Boeing 777-300ER. American Airlines is still considering merging with US Airways after coming out of more than a year of bankruptcy protection.  What do you think of the new look for American? Tell me what you think.
